As Canada's first training program for game writers, NSI playWRITE was designed to give undiscovered Canadian writers the chance to break into the industry by providing them industry-standard training and mentorship.
Following on the heels of Jeffrey Campell, Amanda Doiron has let her talent do the talking, turning her NSI playWRITE training into an internship with Turok developer Propaganda Games.

NSI playWRITE's launch marked the beginning of an ambitious endeavor engineered by the National Screen Institute and Zeros 2 Heroes to find and train undiscovered Canadian writers and help them break into the video game industry--helping writers gain a foothold in what may be one of the coolest industries out there.
As we approach the one-year anniversary of NSI playWRITE's inaugural boot camp we are glad to announce that graduates of our class of 2008 continue to find new homes with some of Canada's premier studios.
We are proud to announce that NSI playWRITE candidate Amanda Doiron has been selected by Propaganda Games for a 6-month internship and is now the second candidate to land a studio employment opportunity through NSI playWRITE. Congratulations Amanda!
The exuberant new Propaganda employee had the following to say: "working for Propaganda Games will be an amazing opportunity to break into the game writing field. I think the video game industry is becoming an enticing option for writers, but there are very few options to get the prerequisite experience; without NSI playWRITE it would undoubtedly have been very difficult to get a job as awesome as this."
NSI playWRITE candidates have run a game writing gauntlet that had them evaluated through a rigorous jurying process, engaged them with a challenging week-long boot camp and put them to task with an arduous independent design phase under the mentorship of game studio representatives.
Propaganda Games' Paul Parsons, a stalwart supporter of NSI's playWRITE since its inception, offers the following; "the interactive nature of games requires writers who have a specific set of skills and interest in the medium and the NSI playWRITE program is a great way to identify those people and given them the skills to get their career started...[we] got involved with playWRITE not only to improve the quality of the development community in general, but also as a means of identifying new talent for our studio".
As we continue to make preparations for the next iteration of NSI playWRITE, the National Screen Institute and Zeros 2 Heroes continue to work tirelessly in their pursuit to create new and exciting opportunities that can launch NSI playWRITE candidates like Amanda to new career heights.
